taking offence

mature people dont get themselves upset over others' nasty remarks . from time to time , people say things to test us out - comments like "you dont work too hard!'' or '' dont you eat a lot!'' or ''we all know you married him for his money!'' Sometimes these things are said out of jelousy , but more often they're said to get a reaction .Whatever the motive , the best way to handle them is to smile and either say nothing or agree with the person!
So next time your neighbours sees you in your new car and says,''you dont do any work, yet they pay you heaps!'' you smile and say , ''isn't it great?" you dont have to explain about your responsibilities and your overtime . You dont need to justify yourself . Smile . Let it go .
If you do any teaching or public speaking , you are bound to get hecklers who make personal remarks . Again , the best way to deal with stirrers is to agree with them in a good natured way . When the fellow up the back notes your spelling error on the blackboard and jibes , "you'd think our lecturer would now how to spell , wouldnt you?'' , you smile and say , "i agree!you'd think he would, wouldnt you?" If you start trying to defend yourself in front of crowd , you are dead in the water! Either agree , or develop a selective hearing condition and stick to the subjects you want to talk about.

p/s= only little people make nasty remarks and only little people take offence . be a BIG person .
